New year accommodation in Tignes.. A pretty desperate plea!

Hi all,

Me and two friends booked trips out to Tignes on Dec 26th, staying for a week with a friend doing a season. The problem is that the friend has just found out he has a tiny studio flat and hence no room!.

The flights and car have cost a small fortune so I'd love not to cancel the trip. Does anyone have any ideas of where we could find some cheap accommodation at this late stage?? It doesn't matter what sort.

I've looked at all the obvious places but no luck so far.

More than likely you will not get anything starting on 26th - plan on staying somewhere enroute on 26th and arrive in resort on Saturday 27th. I suspect this may make it slightly easier to find something.

I presume your friend has already checked out tourist office. Otherwise, keep an eye on the TOs for late offerings, usually indicating cancellations - they may be prepared to accept accommodation only bookings rather than leave beds empty.

If you are really stuck, you could look at staying in Val D'Isere - at least you could come over the mountain during the day to meet up and even get over for a night of two provided you are prepared to pay €40 or so for a taxi home or one of you is prepared to stay sober!

We have stayed in a B&B near Bourg on friday nights and then you could go up on Saturday when it is often changeover day. Here is a link to the B&B http://www.molliebon.fr/info/welcome/index.php Food is very regional and there is one massive table that you sit around and meet similar people on their way up to Val or tignes and we have had enjoyable evenings.

For what is worth crystal are offering a catered chalet board in a club hotel in tignes for a week 27th onwards £950 selfdrive :roll: Thats the cheapest in tignes they have for that week! :mrgreen:

Did you try www.skihorizon.com? They do reasonably cheap accommodation and they might have something left for that week!
