Hi Folks,
I hope someone can help. I am trying to fit these bindings to my new tornado skis, the instructions are pictorial only, and I thinks I have followed them reasonably closely, but I wanted to check a few things :-
1. Does the toe binding have only one lockable position ?
2. The instuctions show an arrow on the heel binding, it shows this being positioned in the middle of three vertical lines, how do you move this ?
Cheers

Hi jek61no
Just spotted this thread.
I'm off work till Thursday but if you can wait till then I can take a few pictures and annotate them - don't think I could explain clearly (safely) without the help of pictures and I would still recommend that you get them checked by a technician once you have them setup.

Are these the '09s? (red) I just got them for my brother. It has the metal bar with the boot scale on it right? Front binding gets set to the closest length of the boot. Same with the rear. Although, with some boots you won't be able to get the arrow in the center. Their pictoral instructions show one type of binding with an additional screw for the front binding. Mine were the type that did not have that. It seems to be a pretty neat setup - especially if you want to play with fore and aft binding position.
As for which side of the centerline to be on with boots that won't center, I like to err on the side of less pressure.

jek61no,
before you do anything with bindings know that it relates to your safety and perhaps your ACL.
I assume you are an adult and take all responsibilies of your actions.
You must know three things.
1. All bindings have a DIN scale which you must respect for your safety.
2. All bindings have a"internal shock absorption system" in the back units and it is critical that you place these rear units correctly. That is so rear units can travel fore and aft while you ski! That is the purpose of that indicator!
If done correctly,, you will note the rear unit move to rear (tail) of ski as you place boots into bindings! If it does not,,IT IS DANGEROUS for you to ski with such bindings!
3.The screws used to set bindings LOOK like Philips type screws but are NOT they use a ski specific screwdriver called POSIDRIVE. You can strip those screws if you use a Philips,,so be careful!
Small hint.
Always set front units first, since they do not move and there is no adjustment for them. Make a mistake there and it will cost you!
The rear has a range of adjustment so place rear units always in the center of the track!
All units have a tension range indicator for rear and all skiers should know where it it is and how to "read" it since their saftery depends on it. Just ask any shop to show you!
With the pictures others will send,,it will help you but you must understand why you are doing the various adjustments! Never set blindly or just how someone told you how to do it. Too many "experts" on net and Utube telling others how to do!
Careful. It is your knees!

Hi jek61no,
I'm afraid that I'm not going to be much help after all.
What I was planning to do was take a couple of pics and explain the instructions to you.
I have never looked at the instructions that come with a salomon binding before (dealers have a technical manual if we need any info) the bumf in the box just gets binned.
My first thought is that the instructions are designed to put you off doing it yourself - they are not easy to understand. They are also generic, i.e. some of the steps shown dont apply to all binding models.
There are very clear and precise instructions in the dealers manual but it also says in large print "To be mounted by a Salomon Authorized dealer only"
As I have our business name in my signature any advice I would give could be construed as coming from our business and not from me personally.
So I'm afraid I cant give you any help. Sorry.
You should take seriously what Pavel says above. Even if you think you have them mounted and adjusted correctly, is it worth the risk to save the few pounds that a shop would charge to mount them for you?
