Hi everyone,

Anyone been to Les Menuires before? I've skied all over France inc Meribel (some time ago) but never been here. Is it any good? Ideal resort for me is ski in-out, high level runs, plenty of pistes and a bar nearby. We're booked to go 10th Jan so just want to know what to expect!

I remember reading that it's one of the ugliest resorts in france but I don't really think that matters too much 8)

I was in VT at Xmas one year when everyone from Les Manure was bussed up because they had no snow.

Hi TomSki
Les Menuires tends to get mentioned less than the other resorts in the 3 Vallees. possibly cos its in the same valley as its better known (?) neighbour - Val Thorens.
Ive never stayed in it but skied through it many times. Seems a bit more french than meribel or courcheval [i.e. less Brits and Russians :) ]

Skiing is great, its certainly not the prettiest french resort I've seen but that probably means it won an architecture award when it was first built ).

The way the season is starting the snow should be great.

Great 3 valleys base, links are good, though Courchevel is a distance.
Ugly, but who notices the buildings when you're surrounded by mountains?
A lot of it is ski to door.

Thanks all, very helpful. Like you say Neiltoo, with all the snow so far, it should be great!

Have stayed in Reberty which is one chair/run away from Les Menuires. Les M has a good selection of shops in La Croisette and a strange looking church and bell tower. Lots of cafes, bars, etc. and a good base for the connections to Val Thorens/St. Martin de Belleville etc. The ski area is so good I don't think the lack of chocolate box architecture will be a problem!
