Yeah, Conic is behind Balmaha, short but steep, it's on the West Highland Way. Great views across Loch Lomond from the top. Did the WHW in 2000.
And that has just reminded me of the guys caught out on the Lakeland Mountain Marathon at the weekend. What awful weather. I did the LMM many years ago, partnering a manchester friend, who, the year before had just won the European 3000m Indoor Gold medal. So he was fit. I, on the other hand was decidedly unfit. So he did all the map reading, carried most of the gear, led the way, erected the tent, cooked, and fed me, (because by the first night I was pretty incoherent) The second day was a blur, but we came eighth, behind Chris Brasher, (he of the first 4 min mile and London Marathon organisation)
Also completed the Four Inns 50 miler, in blizzard conditions, when 3 guys died. That was not nice.
Expect to see thigh high snow in Scotland soon.

Reminds me of the old Karimore Mountain Marathon when I was but a lad and my dad was a veteran - oh happy/wet/windblown/freezing days.

If anyone is up early check out tinyurl.com/glenco . The show should stay all day as our highs are forecast to be pretty low.
