This offer was widely advertised in the Sunday Times this week naming a number of resorts that the offer applied to. We'd already booked in a party of 10 to Claviere and having taken an age to get through to Crystal we were told that this now only applies to new bookings. Funny the whole page advert never stated that on Sunday!

We've booked large parties ( between 20 & 30 usually) through Crystal for the past 5 years yet they were not interested in that. Such a shabby way to treat long time customers! Now we're all determined to look elswhere next year. Anyone else had the same problem?

Hi Phils226,

It looks like a desperate attempt to claw some money in if you ask me,But i dont think the offer of a free lift pass with have people flocking to the travel agents. With the size of your parties you may be better going to an independant travel agent in the future,I know what you mean though about loyalty counting for nothing.

I've never been with Crystal before, but thats a poor way you have been treated, and you are right - the ad never stated that.

We are in a similar situation. We have already made a booking for 30+ and I do not expect the "offer" to be extended to us. However, while it is a bit disappointing, I suppose that is normal business practice. If you book a flight and it subsequent is made available at a lower price, I don't think anybody would expect the airline to refund the difference to you!

To be fair to Crystal, we have found them to consistently offer the best value for family groups with very cheap or even free child places (which are genuinely available). Combined with generous group discounts (outside of half-term!), the overall cost is usually reasonable enough. We have also found that standards of food, etc in the Club hotels is pretty good. While the properties can be a bit tired, I think this is not unusual in the Alps!

BTW, I have noticed that an increasing number of resorts are offering family lift pass deals, typically half price for the 4th and over members of the same family - this would typically save a family of 2 adults and 2 kids about €80. It is worth researching on resort websites before booking lift passes with your tour operator or buying through the reps on the bus transfer to resort as they rarely know about this .

I've done my bookinga nd now first choice associated with Cristal are offering the 2for1 lift passes, but even though i'm better off. One lift pass is 146 for the area in Alpe D'Huez, and since my booking prices increased 300, so i'm still 150 better off

Why give your hard earned money to the tour operators I have been organizing my own ski trips for the past 10 years independently.
Got really fed up up with the drunken idiots that we came across, the final straw was when one was sick on the coach to resort. Never again. So now I drive, share a chalet with my brother in law and actually get some change out of a couple of grand.

Crikey, never come across anything like that in my ski trips. Where were you skiing when these things happened?
