I'm considering joining the The Ski Club GB, but am interested to know if anyone has received real benefits from being a member. They have a good snow report facilities, with extensive historical snow records, some of which is partially available to non members, but they do advertise savings on holidays, insurance , etc.

Do the holiday savings help late bookers like me, who won't be paying list price anyway?

Has anyone got any comments on the SCGB, and has it enhanced anyones ski experience?

Graham

I have not joined them as I preffer independant travel. Comparing my own holidays to their discounts I haven't found one cheaper by them. Also you can get good weather reports on this website (as well as others)

I was planning to join to get extra insurance. I've heard they can cover all eventualities, does anyone know if this is right? I'm concerned that there could be issues with my usual travel insurance people should anything happen with my knees on the slopes...

Endsleigh are good and have a very sharp claims dept. Highly highly recommended.

Try making a few enquiries, with those on the bottom of your desirability list. You will need to go for full medical disclosure. Judge their responses before making an approach to the insurance sellers of preferred choice. Before, you do this, read thoroughly the small print on how their underwriters view existing medical conditions, as the criteria for refusal of cover do seem to vary quite widely.

I recently advised my insurance provider about a sore and swollen knee. Their emailed response was to withdraw cover from any condition "relating to the condition". No condition had been diagnosed at that time or since.
Quite frankly I was somewhat dismayed, since they didn't even pause to ask which knee
For the UK market, this was the response of one of the longstanding industry leaders in ski insurance, and our policy (for 2)cost £198 per yr.
If anyone wants to know which company, or would like to see the emails, please pm me.

Yeah its the discounts at shops where the Ski Club membership is best, as Ross said you get good discounts with Ellis Brigham. I've saved way more than I paid for my membership, so all is good!
