Niederau

My usual haunt for the past 6 years or so, The Hotel Vicky, isn't taking any bookings this summer.

Any news from those with their ears to the ground in the village?

It isn't clear if you are looking at summer or winter. If summer, I'm not sure that the Vicki remains open. Summer visitors to Niederau tend to be aged UK, or aged Germans. The Vicki does cater for a younger set, (I hear)

Alternatively, you could pp Jan, but he might suggest staying at the Auhof, which I might add, looks a pretty good place to be.

Met several J2ers in Niederau, looked into the Vicki, the week you were there, no sign of a kilt, so gave up!

There are several new developments going on this year. There is a new replacement four person chairlift going in place of the single. The Harfenwirt is being extended.

Let me know if there is something specific that you cannot find elsewhere.

Strange that the Vicky isnt open :shock unless its getting a face lift ( it needs it )and as Dave Mac said its usually the older folks that tend to visit in the summer.But i have seen it advertised in Crystals Active brochure in the past.Have a look at the Simmelwirt its the same price as the Vicky if not cheaper and its got an out door pool.

Seriously, I have been there with my family for the past several summers. I do know that crytal were supposed to be taking over all the Thomson Club hotels so maybe they are having a facelift for later on.

Luckily, being familiar with Niederau, I have alternate plans for the winter :thumbup: and this summer has been re-booked for the Harfenwirt.

Booked into the Harfenwirt for a couple of weeks from the 9th August.

You lucky bugger Hamish :lol: I hope the Vicky is having a face lift coz it sure needs it,You cant beat it on location but it needs a bit of TLC.Or the lease could be up as its only rented.Any how im sure you`ll have a great time.

Preaching to the converted on here but Niederau has a lot going for it - summer or winter.

Have seen more changes in staff than the hotel itself that's for sure.

The really sad thing is I had booked room 302 - right at the front in the middle with the best views of the Markbachjoch. I wonder what view we'll have from the other place?
