I have booked a long weekend (Easter)in Arosa with my trouble and strife. Never been before so does anybody have any advice or tips on the resort and slopes please. I am pretty reasonable boarder, love off piste (haven't done the snow parks seriously though since c*cking up a jump and spending 3 days in hospital couple of years ago) and the wife's an intermediate skier (not many black runs!).
Both a young 50 this year but getting a bit old for radical/extreme advice please! Thanks.

Was in Arosa in January (and January 2007).

Your wife needn't worry, there aren't too many black runs in the resort anyway. Smallish ski area, but an intermediate cruiser's paradise.

There is plenty of lift-served off-piste. We had one particularly grand day after a day of heavy snowfall. Proved very popular with the locals from Arosa and the major town of Chur and was tracked out by early afternoon.

Very few queues (could be different at Easter,of course) although the paths for walkers which cross the pistes at regular intervals provide a most unusual hazard.

Not the liveliest apres ski town, but some smashing restaurants. Try the Rogenmoser in the Hotel Eden!

Not the best known resort, obviously, but picturesque and friendly. When the proposed lift link with Lenzerheide-Valbella is completeit will become a much more serious destination. (I do like it as it is, though so if you want any more just ask!)

PS - a very serious snowpark (site of a world cup or world championship last year) and also the scene of my most spectacular crash for a long, long time. That'll teach me to try and get down with the kids!

Hi Lota, Thank you for the info. Did you go into Chur at all and sample the nightlife there?
The piano bars and decent restaurants may be fine anyway as we've worn the T shirts etc for staying out till daft o'clock.

No, the road to Chur is a pain - and the train takes about an hour, so not a realistic option.

The Hotel Eden is a really lively place - they had an ABBA night of all things with top tribute band Bjorn Again on one night we were there. Finished about 4am.The Kitchen Club disco is not bad in a teutonic mittel-European kind of way. One or two half-decent bars, names of which escape me - and a kebab shop on the stagger home!
