Can anyone please give me any advice on this resort?
Especially the nightlife etc

Hi, I felt like I had to reply since no one else did! Went to Isola 2000 with school years ago which probably doesn't help you and can't remember much except we had a fab ski in ski out apartment and the nightlife was pretty good although was only 16 at the time and seem to remember spent a lot of time pretending to go to bed only to get caught buying drinks at a bar later on ;) I also seem to remember that they served smaller bottles of beer to the supermarket so when I tried to smuggle them into the bar in my salopettes they realised.

Anyway I'm 33 now and have learnt my lesson but still remember Isola 2000 fondly which again doesn't help you! Anyway, I seem to remember it had enough nightlife to satisfy a bunch of 16-18 year olds and quite a few 30 something teachers who swore they'd just been to the payphone ;)

Enjoy :)

Cheers thanks for that - Was expecting a few more replies but Isola doesn't seem to that popular with the englisr tourists

My wife and I were in Isola 2000 for the first time a couple of weeks ago, having bought a January timeshare week in the Club Bristol.

The skiing area is not huge compared with Tignes where we went the following week but was perfectly adequate to give us an enjoyable 6 days of skiing on great snow and in perfect sunshine. There is a reasonable variety of runs and I'd reckon it would be great for a beginner with long broad easy slopes along the front of the resort. There were some steep bumps to challenge a bit. Off-piste looked promising but was all skied out and crusty when we were there so apart from one sortie off the track to see what it was like, I didn't do any more (3 awkward turns and my skis went under the crust on the 4th and stopped dead. I of course didn't )

So don't expect L'Espace Killy but equally don't expect Espace Killy prices. Our lift pass was 98€ compared with around 200€ in Tignes (not to mention the 4.70€ for a coffee in Les Brevières). Look forward to a picturesque area, varied but not extensive skiing and pleasant mountain restaurants. Little to no queuing while we were there. The main centre is fine inside with supermarket, bakers, ski shops, post office, newsagent etc but is badly in need of a facelift on the outside.

If you are driving, it is quite a steep and twisty 17kms from the village of Isola to Isola 2000, but not a problem if you take it steadily.

Nightlife? Can't help there. Our après-ski comprises a G&T in the bath, a meal with a few glasses of wine and a DVD if we can stay awake long enough to watch it.

Hope you have a great week

Thanks Colin for a more up to date view on it, it's been one of those resorts I loved when I went with school and wanted to go back to.

I think a great advantage to Isola, especially in March would be the weather? It's so far south that I imagine it will be sunnier than most being so close to the Med. To be honest, I've realised you don't actually need that many bars, it's the atmosphere that counts. We are going to Les Carroz in a few weeks and from what I remember of Isola 2000, Les Carroz is smaller and yet we still manage to cram a fair few drinks in and most of the bars don't shut til way after midnight. I believe there is even a nightclub in Les Carroz although I've yet to need/find it!

You'll have a great time, reply to this message when you get back and let us know what you thought of it.

Ally :)
