I want to go skiing for the first time as recently learnt to ski. But i don't know anyone that skies, other than my daughter who doesn't want to come!! Do you really need someone to go with or is it just as much fun on your own?
I want to go to scotland as may be the cheapest option for me.
Could anyone recommend this website?

hi daiana,
go on your own - you'll have a blast!! i've been going to austria for 20 years and most of that time, i've gone on my own. having said that, i am one of the lucky ones who discovered niederau. A typical, small, family orientated resort which doesn't have the glitz or the cost of somewhere like kitzbuhel. on my second visit, 3 weeks after my first, the locals welcomed me back as an old timer! i ended up going summer and winter, and qualifying as a ski instructor, working for the ski school there. the apres ski is so small and intimate that the ski group you're with, unless they're boring and very rude, will welcome the company of someone like yourself, travelling alone, helping them to prop up the bar! you'll make friend and acquaintances as soon as you arrive, and no matter what age, be swapping addresses at the end of the week.
i'll email you a PM. L.

I find it more fun to be on your own. I'm a social butterfly and I'll hook up with buddies. It's a good time. Hell I'll go skiing with you. Where you at? :D
Uh oh, I think I broke'd the lift

:Dhi,Daiana,
have had a look on some other forums and have come up with some companies that may be of some use,on the Ski Welt website there is a section called "ski bunnies"...great name? that help single skiers find like minded others for skiing company, also you could try www.pistepals.co.uk and also www.skiline.co.uk and look at thier Ski Buddy section.
As for skiing in scotland i am not sure this would be cheap or not, also the snow may be a problem (lack of maybe).
Fail in that i have a self catering apartment in Bourg-Saint-Maurice which is located a short walk from the funicular railway which goes directly up to the ski lifts at Les Arcs 1600, and have Tues 11th March - Mon 17th March free and also Tues 24th March - Sat 5th April free,if you have no luck anywhere else i would be happy to let you have either period for £150 instead of the usual £300(price is for the apartment only),with a return flight to say Lyon or Grenoble being around £60,return coach transfer to BsM being around £50 - £60,ski hire in the region of £45 - £50 and a weeks lift pass 198euro's(or a daily pass brought each day to suit you could have a weeks skiing relatively cheaply, the only other cost would be food and drink (there are many places in BsM to have a 3 course meal with wine,cheeseboard/biscuits etc for between 14euros - 25euros,also there is a supermarket within 5mins walk of the apartment, for more info just click on my web link).
Also the Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard magazine offers readers trips which are all enclusive and from what i read great fun,but a trip would need to be booked up fairly quickly as they are very popular.
I hope some of this info is of help and wish you luck in you're search.

hi daiana,
the offer of BSM sounds tempting, doesn't it? think we ought to go for that!!
yes, easter's a possibility: let's keep in touch. niederau at easter would be iffy regarding snow. i don't know how snowsure BSM IS: if it's high,i would give it a go!!
Scotland sounds -er- nice, but bizarrely, it'd probably cost me less to fly to austria from here down south!! but skiiing is never cheap: it's only once you have all the kit and kaboodle that you find corners to cut. L.
hi ice ghost: i've skiied hintertux once: it's a glacier, so is snowsure. was fab, if i recall!!
