Hi, were looking at going skiing/boarding somewhere in France/Swiss/Bulgaria/Italy, not made our minds up or mind really just as long as there is good runs for the learners (with a ski school too), and good runs for the more advanced of us too! Where is the best places to go? and does anyone know of any good deals to be had? If its France then we may well drive. We will be looking at going the 1st week in March, is the snow likely to still be good then? thanks everyone!:)

we had one of the biggest snow falls of the season at the start of March last year, it's not a particularly late part of the season.

Here's my record of the last few years :

My own plans for skiing go as late as the end of May so far so March seems pretty early. It should fairly low season that week so you might just be able to make travel plans and book some accommodation later depending on where conditions look good or the best deal is.

cool, I went to Orcières-Merlette last year in April and it was spring conditions, I think it was the last week of their season, and by the end of the week the only decent snow was right at the top of the mountains. We had a good time skking but I want more wintery conditions this year, and think i may have missed that now! :( But as long as its not too warm then and it still has fresh snow then that will be good!

The 1st week in March orta be fine but nothings
is gauranteed. We went to La Tania the 2nd week
of April last year and most staff agreed it
was the best week of a poor season. for conditions.

Has anyone got any good ideas on where we can go? Its for me my other half and my parents. I would say im intermediate level, my other half is a beginner and only stepped onto ski's for the first time last year at MK, and my parents havnt been since '93 when we all went to Andora. cheers! :D

Well, if you plan on driving, I would suggest Morzine area of Flaine possibly, and get yourself high up for the skiing. Both areas have good circuits, and the snow this year is good.
However, Val Thorens is your best bet for guaranteed wintery conditions I would say, right up at 3400 metres and more, and usually nice and cold!

I would recommend avoiding Bulgaria at all costs, the skiing areas are hugely limited, and I hear poor reports on the food and drink and accommodation too.

Austria and Italy are probably best for scenery, accommodation, and food/drink, but you need to go higher up for the best conditions.

I am hoping for the same thing " Snow In March " Going to Morzine for a week 2nd March. But looking at last seasons Snow March should be good and with the great base we have all should be good.
