First of all, anyone who lives in Banff - is the snow still good at Sunshine in the first two weeks of April? We're thinking of coming over then.

Secondly, how about Sunday River in Maine for the same two weeks? And is Sunday River suitable for a novice on greens?

Thanks loads

jojo

JoJO,

You intrique me since you mention two ski resorts most skiers do not know that well!

April is normally an ify time to ski but this year you are in luck! great many storms in both centers!

These centers are very different as far as distance, style of skiing, people skiing them and social context!

For novice is excellent, in fact I recommend it to anyone who wants to really learn to ski" Juts vist site and you will see how vast it is. Look up Jordan bowl and that extreme right ski run called "Lalapolusso" Very wide very long easy run!
No one goes there! Ski there till end of April!

Both centers are great! Each gives you something different! It is your call!

Hi Pavelski,

Perhaps you misunderstood where I meant? I realise Sunday River is not as well known, but Sunshine at Banff is one of the highest and best known ski areas in Canada?
Thanks for you info

Hey Jojo,

Im living here in Banff at the moment and doing my second season. Sunshine is one of the most reliable places for snow i have ever been to. Last year the resort closed on 22nd May (only closed due to lack of people, could have stayed open for weeks more)! We're about to get a load of snow throughout the week so i can assure you that there will be some exellent spring skiing again this year. For amount of snow / quality of snow (ie its always crispy pow) / good town atmosphere mix i cant imagine there is too many places that compare. Hope this helps
I love big dumps

Hi BigDaveKen and RossFra8,
Thanks for your info - we'll be booking something this weekend for April! We came to Banff at New Year, and have been in the summer too, and you're so right - it is THE coolest place to be with the friendliest people!

Thanks guys,
jojo
