This has probably been mentioned before but if it ain't on the 'Latest Ski Chat' page then it's probably been erased from my memory.
My ski boots are about 4 years old now and were suffering from the usual packed out liner problem with the boots starting to feel a bit loose. Buying a new pair was starting to appear on my 'new kit' radar but Skidaddle suggested putting some cheap flat insoles under the footbeds in my boots. Yesterday I pushed the boat out and bought 2 pairs of insoles (£3 each) and put both pairs under the footbed. Tried them last night on the dryslope and it was bliss! Nice and snug fitting again with a heck of a more direct feel on the skis.
I reckon there's another season in the old dogs yet!
My boots feel like new again!

I have a draw full of old foot beds, spacers, arch supports, pieces of foam etc. It never hurts to experiment a little to get a better fit.

Trencher is so right. The very best fitting you will get is when you do the "job" yourself!
It is not that difficult!
Try experiment, visit some excellent ski boot fitting sites. Watch s pro do the work! Enroll in ski boot clinics. Take old boots a cut them apart to learn how they are made!
Slowly buy special tools!
Make your self a boot holder with an old binding, some C clamps, wire and heat gun!
Keep in touch on this site,,since this Summer I will show you how to make such ski boot holder! Cost? $23!!!

A cheap way to get custom foot beds is to use the memory foam insoles from a shoe store. The secret is to use them in your everyday shoes for a few weeks. They eventually permanently take on your foot’s shape, including that ridge between the ball of the foot and the toes. Once they look worn in, trim them to fit your boot liners. If you put new ones straight into ski boots, they are generally too thick and uncomfortable for the first hours skiing.
