I'm looking for some waterproof trousers for use in the snow and also cycling in the wet. With no insulation.
Do people actually layer their trousers like they do with jackets? Would a set of thermals and waterproof hiking trousers be warm enough for the snow? I've been looking (online) at some North Face hiking and mountaineering trousers, but can't see if they have insulation or not.
Pants for snowsports and cycling?

I always wear either thermals or a wicking layer under my trousers, if I get too hot then I just open the vents.
highly unlikely unless your going summer skiing on a glacier

iplanet77, I will quite often wear my Ron Hills bikesters under my ski pants when skiing in all but the warmest of conditions. I think you would struggle to stay warm on snow with just a waterproof/windproof layer. The other problem you might face is that the bottom of ski pants are quite large to accomodate the ski boot and would require a pretty impressive trouser clip to stop them getting caught in your bike chain!

I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Looks like I'll be getting two different pairs then, one pair for cycling and one for the snow. Does anyone know of a brand that does short (29") leg lengths?
