Hi I'm going to Samoens in a couple of weeks & intend getting a lift pass for the Grand Massif. My Samoens brochure says that if I purchase a GM pass for 6 or more days I'm entitled to one day on the slopes of the Portes du Soleil (ticket office at Les Prodains).
Does anyone know if that means I have to go to Les Prodains to get my card validated? I was hoping to go straight to Les Gets as we will have friends skiing there. I'm not sure quite how it works.
(12 sleeps to go) :D

I was not aware of this, but just found this on line:

"With a 6 Day Grand Massif lift pass you also get to ski one day on the Portes du Soleil ski area (Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel…)."

Hi,
Firstly, I got back from Samoens late last night from a 4 day short break. It was brill. The conditions were excellent. 2 days bright sunshine but cold. All day yesterday powder snow, poor visibility, but enough for loads of fun.
Flaine was great but Grand Massif did shut for a couple of hours due to high winds. In that instance we were bussed to Les Carroz.
I've been there the last 4 years and last year we took advantage of the Portes Du Soleil pass. We did have to go to Prodains. You take our Grand Massif pass and they give you a day pass - so the answer is, yes, you do need to go to Prodains. Could your friends meet you?
You'll already have driven over (takes about 40 mins) so they could ski over to Avoriaz and meet you there perhaps.
Have a great time.

Thanks for that info. Bryan - glad you had a good trip. Yes we could meet up in Avoriaz but we might just pay extra for a day pass for Les Gets. We stayed there last year, but couldn't ski due to the lack of snow. We had to take the bus to Avoriaz every day, so to ski in Les Gets would be a welcome change. At least we know the form now. You never know, we might be having such a good time in the GM that we don't want to travel anywhere else!
