Hello

We are off to Les Arcs 2000 during Feb Half Term with our 1 year old Son.

We can't decide whether or not to bother taking a buggy with us. We have both an off-road type buggy (bulky!) and a lightweight stroller. Would either of these be any use at all on icey snow in the resort, or would it be better to just take the backpack?

Any parents got experience of this resort?

Having a buggy would be handy for travelling (Eurostar) and in the shops etc but if its really no use most of the time I'm not sure if it's worth it?

Hi moomin, haven't got kids ourselves just yet but seen lots of friends take them (buggys not kids) with no probs at all.
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Hi Moomin,

I'm sure I've seen all-terrain buggies for hire in ski shops. If so, you could take your lightweight one for the journey & hire one which might be more suitable for the snow. Why don't you contact the Tourist Information office in Les Arcs, or the ski shops themselves to see if they offer this service?

Have a good holiday :-)
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Hi moomim, The larger resorts will almost certainly have shops selling inexpensive kiddies sledges or for rental and I've seen a few toddlers looking very happy being pulled along on a sledge by a parent. Les Arcs is a large resort so there shouldn't be any shortage of child provision.

Can't really see when you would need a buggy its not a 'window shopping' kind of holiday, a buggy is obviously no use other than in the village and if both of you are skiing and your baby is in a creche then they will either be indoors or out for a short while playing in the snow so no need for one in the day

With regards to the evening i can't see you having much of a aprei ski with a one year old so i'd assume it will be back to the hotel/chalet fairly quickly so again no need

We never bothered with our two when they were in prams so for the small amount of use it may have i would say its not worth the effort dragging it round with you, go with the back pack its a much better idea

I say Nay :D

We found with the buggy/stroller that we encountered snow that was deep enough to clog the wheels or bumpy snow/ice that was teeth chattering.

So we got these - which were pretty good.

Last time I was in Les Arc we had dinner with a local couple and the lady had her child in a standard buggy.
