I am an established skiier - 15 years. However this year I am going with my partner who has not skied before so we have agreed to cross to the dark side and both learn to board together! Shock Horror I know!

However, where do we go? As we will be begginners I am not fussed about huge linked resorts that I would be if I went on the twin tips. We also have a budget of about £500 p/p. Prob not inc board/pass/lessons etc

It is years since I have done it all 'from the begginning'. Is it better to pre-book lessons in UK or arrange when get there or book on a package tour?

We are also after a good nightlife.

I am not fussed on Hotel/apartment. Open to any other suggestions. Probably not camping though

Any suggestions?

I don't know about UK, but I suggest you to fly to northern Finland in January for a different skiing experience. Damn cold, open fires, northern lights, skiing in -20 celcius degrees..

Ok, you would need a bigger budget, but it would be worth it. I am from Lapland. Sorry for this little promotion.. :)

Bansko is a small and value for money resort - you could easily keep under budget here, especially if you visit in January when the prices are very competitive. There is an excellent boarding school here too that I can reccommend - Method Snow School.
