Hey,
So I need a new pair of skis for the '08 season and am not totally sure what to look at.
I am mostly an eastern skiier (so they have to be crap/ice-compatibile), I classify myself as an all-mountain skiier, I need them to be capable of racing and freestyle as well... basically a very versatile ski.
I am 160 lbs, 6' 2'' and an advanced skiier, and I don't really have an idea of how much I want to spend. Basically, I want a really nice pair of skis, and I want them to fit my needs, whatever I need to spend to get that I will.
I do practically everything a mountain can provide, and I need skis that can keep up... By the way, speed is extremely important for me, not only for racing, but also all-mountain stuff.
In order of most important to least:
1. All-Mountain
2. Racing
3. Freestyle
EDIT: By the way, I am going to try and demo the skis before I buy them...
Which skis are a good fit...

If you are going to be trying demos - you should be fine. I personally have a pair of Volkl Supersport S4's. You have about 15 pounds on me at the same height, and I am using 168's. I am not super advanced, but I ski in all types of conditions, and all difficulty levels of terrain. I am in PA, so most of my snow is man made. I don't think I have ever come close to pushing them to their limit. Today was my first day at 2 degree edge bevel, and they were awesome! Tons of grip, and very stable. If you wanted something a little stiffer - check out the S5.
Good luck!
Good luck!

not asking for much are you! i'd say go for 2 pairs of skis otherwise your going to have to make a huge compromise, id say freestyle/powder skis and race skis!

I'm thinking that you have to go for 2 pairs as the race pair will have to conform to the regulations. They would not be much good for racing after you had then used them for freestyle.
souldrive My skis are head height and over these days. It's better for the pow
You'll do fine, just go out and ski em, don't even consider "how long" they are.
If it helps any, when I used to ride skinny skis, they were 25cm taller than me.

Used to ski 215s!! A so called mate of mine told me they were just what I needed at my stage! Migrated to 210s for the next 30 years, then a pair of 2metre K2 Merlins ~ which I initially thought were too short. Now ski on any old thing, any length or shape, and don't even think about it.Generally 165 to 185.
