Hello every1.

It will be the first time i am taking my girlfriend to a ski holiday and we chose Austria as destination. My question to all of you is where is the place(resort) which will suit us best. I am advanced skier and she will be a first timer so i want to accommodate her with learner slopes and school and still enjoy my skiing while she is learning. Also i have big doubts that she will hate skiing from the first day so the resort have to have some other facilities for women so she don’t get bored and ruin my holiday as well. I know that some of you will say "GO ALONE" or with mates, but i really want her beside me skiing and i am willing to try to hook her up.
Budget is around 400pp for 4-5 day hol -anything will be considered.
Thanks

Ski Amade is a massive area, 70km from Salzburg airport. Have a look at somewhere like Flachau. Its got plenty of skiing for all and great nightlife too. :)

For the rick of sounding repetative, Mayrhofen will give you everything you need. If she hates the skiing, you ca ski alone and never be far away if you want, whilst she spends hours browsing in the hundreds of shops. Its got a brilliant ski school, I actually got to know a couple of the instructors through drinking in several bars there and through a friend who learned to ski there years ago.

Its a short transfer from Innsbruck, there is a glacier and lots of snow making, so you will get skiing somewhere, and the resort is lovely for eating and drinking and shopping.

Its a no fail option.

would spending 7-8 days there for beginners/intermediate be a bit too much? (in terms of activities, and of coz spendings!)

Seefelds a beautiful place as rose said,Theres lots to do off piste if she finds that skiings not her thing.
Or what about Niederau?Smaller village,Good ski school and you could ski Auffach on same lift pass.
The best thing is it wont blow your budget.

Hi,

I have been to Austria for a few years skiing and am going again this March. I would suggest also looking at Holzgau, a small village on the main road through the Lech valley. We get the ski bus from Holzgau and travel 20mins up to Warth & Salobar, its been great every year. Hotels and food good, not too expensive. Slopes not over busy, and plenty of ski schools.

thanks

In answer to your question, I think 7-8 days of skiing would be quite hard work for begginers.

I agree with Tony. I lived and worked in Mayrhofen for 2 seasons and thought it was ideal for everyone. The Penken is close to town and if she is learning she will be up the mountain with you rather than in the valley which some resorts have, you can go off for a blast whilst she has lessons and easily meet at lunchtime and then take her on some nice easy runs, still all up the hill.

On the other hand, if she hates skiing, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, trips to Salzburg and Innsbruck are common, there is a nice swimming pool, sauna, jaccuzzi etc in town.

However, I'm sure she will love skiing - doesn't everyone? :?:
