Hi Im looking at skiing in Courchevel this yr and came accross a reasonable deal in La Tania next resort on but apparantlylinked - Is it possible to get a lift from La Tania to Courchevel without skiiing? or if you have to ski a nice blue one to strat off with - I have a little one with me and I dont want to tire her out before we start the day - having said that shes a better skiier than her parents (us) but we plan on skiing with her all day this yr rather than have her in 1/2 day ski school.?? Any reccs greatfully received - We will likely try and get something last min though due to last yrs poor snow conditions dont want to spend a fortune and not ski to the last if you know what I mean - also Are there pleanty of reasonable priced restaurants on the mountain there ? Went to Les Gets last yr and to be honest it will take some beating

samhay1011 I went to La Tania some years ago. La Tania is linked to Courchevel and the rest of Trois Vallees on skis. You may be able to get a bus from La Tania to Courchevel if you don't want to ski it. There is a Gondola from La Tania up to the plateau above Courchevel, and the run down to Courchevel was either blue or easy red. You may want to have a look at a lift map in case some more lifts have been put in since I was there.
La Tania is small and fairly quiet, with lots of apartment buildings and some chalets in the woods.

The only cheap eating that I found in Courchevel, was a takeaway in the street. This is a resort with Michelin starred ski restaurants. I have memories of paying £20 for hamburger and chips and Coke x2.
The slopes, IMV are pretty flattering in and around Courchevel, and as you get further away from the Prada wearers in 1850 there is more variety and more challenges for all levels.
If you are on a budget then Les Gets will be much, much cheaper!!

I have done 2 seasons in La Tania and it is a great resort, a little lower than Courcheval - at 1300 metres, it has a gondola going out of it, that will drop you at either a chair or drags which then get you over to Courch. Takes about 30/45 mins including lifts for an average skiier I guess. There are a good variety of runs into Courcheval, and a green and a hard blue back into la tania. Although the green was shut a lot of last yr due to poor snow. There is a free bus that stops at La Praz, 1550, 1650, 1850 and run every hr, there and back so u can always get that. Also La T has the added bonus of being inbetween Meribel and Courcheval so you can get a 3 vallees pass and drop into either valley after you have taken the La Tania bubble and Col de le Loze chair. The resort also lacked a bit of snow last year, but the runs are well maintained it's more the aesthetic part that was affected! There is a Sherpa in La Tania, a pub with overpriced food, and a couple of other restuarants, but if your looking for a bargain it won't be by eating out. Self catering apartments could be cheaper, there is a pizza place that does pizzas for about 7euros. Check out latania.co.uk which is a local English run site and has heaps of info.
All in all La Tania is a wicked resort, very pictureque and if you are in an apartment block (not Saboia or Latrey) then you will be able to ski pretty much to the doors. Grand Bois, Christiana, Kalinka, Folyeres are all ski in/out. But because it is such a small resort your never far from the bubble. Highly recommend.

We were in La Tania last year.
There is a regular bus service, free with your lift pass, which goes between La Tania and the 3 Courchevel resorts.
Our 7 year old daughter has been skiing for a few years now and managed to ski to and from Courchevel. The route can be all blues, but the blue route back can get a bit icy. The La Tania nursery slope is ok, but I would say that the resort is not that good for beginners.
