Re:Where to base stay in Val Di Fassa

Looking for advice on which area of Val Di Fassa to stay in, currently looking at Campitello, Canazei or Pozza Di Fassa. We are intermediate skiers (mainly blue & reds with occasional black runs) and in March 2023 stayed in Ortisei and managed to get across (by bus) to do the Sella Rhonda. Which of the 3 towns / villages mentioned, would give best and easiest access to the various ski areas in Val Di Fassa as well as access to Val Gardena and Arabba regions? We are hoping to stay for 1 week in early January and looking for any advice for this area? Many thanks

Hi ....I have been to the Val Di Fassa most years for the past 10 and I usually stay in Campitello ( Hotel Primula which I can recommend) very central for the whole of the valley but not much in the way of apres ...the bus service up and down the valley is great I usually get the bus up to Alba rather than queue for the gondola in Campitello ..but from there it is relatively easy to get to the Val Gardena ...from Alba you can either go up to the top of Belvedere or the other way to Campac.
Canazei is much more lively and has a bigger choice of hotels but its a bubble and a cable car to get anywhere..Pozza looks quite nice but I have never stopped there the access to the Sella Ronda is more difficult but it is easier to access the areas up the Passo San Pelegrino as well as the Campac area ...In all its a great area

Given your experience level as intermediate skiers and considering your interest in exploring Val Gardena and Arabba regions, I would recommend Canazei. It's a central hub with convenient access to the Sella Ronda, and it's well-connected to other valleys.

Enjoy your stay ..it's a great area but do try taking the bus up to Alba ..it's much easier than going up from Canazei and the Campac area is great try the black down under the cable car it's not that hard

Hi Alan
You definitely won't go wrong with your choice of Canazei,great areas available from there, Arraba 4 lifts, Ciampac 3 lifts or 1 bus and obviously the "Searonda", there are some other great areas such as "Covara", "Alpe di susi", Marmalada","San Palegrino" etc.
We've been going to the Dolomites for 20 years and have never tired of its beauty.
We'll be there from the 24 December for the season, why not look us up when you're there ?

Hi, have booked a ski trip based in Campitello this year. First day of skiing is 16th December. Does anyone know if there is snow? Can't find much info about this on the internet.

Not the easiest info to find, but there appears to be decent snow cover;

I don't think they've had the quantities of snow seen in parts of the Alps, but they haven't had as much rain this week either.
