This must be the earliest that Icy has booked a ski holiday ever. Just booked Sauze D'Oulx in March for 4 of us - this will be our 3rd visit. We are staying in Hotel Hermitage

We have booked the holiday through Iglu Ski - got a £90 pp discount so that was a bonus. We can get half price ski hire if we add it through that package, my only concern is where the ski hire shop is in Sauze that Inghams use. Does anyone know? Ski hire with ski set is about 73 euro, so half price could be very good! Any idea?

email Inghams.
They will have it on their website, but you need to ask if IGLU are using the Ingham's choice.

Whenever we have been looking at ski hire the "best" option has been SkiSet with a discount voucher (-40% or -50% vouchers seem to turn up regularly later in the year).
We have asked about group discounts from specific shops, looked at "discounts" with TO's and other outlets from Intersport, Sport2000 and others.
The 50% "discount" has always been from full list price with TO's (Crystal, Inghams, Neilson).
If pre-booking you will presumably be paying in sterling and this has to be factored in too. So - is the actual price being offered by Inghams/Iglu competitive? For example; a couple of years ago in Austria early pre-booking looked good but at the time of the holiday the hotel price/offer was slightly cheaper.
I tend to go for a convenient shop that has the kit I want on offer rather than worry about saving a fiver.

I always book ski separately for a number of reasons

1. Generally you can get a better price than the bolt on that comes with TO

2. If you arrange yourself, you can choose a shop convenient to your Accomodation, saving a potential trapese across the town

3. As you are not going to the same shop as other TO guests, the queues are shorter or non existent. Pre book online with full details your gear is sitting there ready

4. I like to be self sufficient.

Sounds like we agree :D

Ps - we will be booking separate. Remembered from last time that inghams gear was poop!

We always get our skis from Paolo Chalp at the bottom of the Clotes lift as you can store them there so you don't have to trudge them up and down the hill. I am pretty sure the TO's don't use him though but the majority of the ski hire shops are family run and are pretty good in Sauze.

I always get skis from Edyllin Sport. If you book them on line you get a discount and also free ski storage. They are at the bottom of the clotes slope near Hotel Stella alpina. Nice walk in the morning to get our skis and not far to the Ghost bar at the end of the day.
