Thinking of booking up cervinia for next season is there anyone out there who would recommend? I'm mainly a red run person with blacks thrown in would this resort suit me, also wanted to ski to Switzerland but someone mentioned the link is often shut due to high winds is this right and does cervinia have enough for advanced ski on piste for 1 week any recommendations for hotels too would be greatfully received thanks

It's super easy to ski from Cervina to Zermatt. Just make sure that you do not miss the last lift back to the top or you will be stuck in Zermatt. The off-piste skiing allows you to access a lot of terrain, in particular during the spring. Avoid south-facing slopes in the afternoon, mostly due to wet snow and avalanche hazards.

Was there this year in January. We had heard about the wind issues but never had that problem, ours was too much snow which stopped us skiing for two days . Loved the whole area and there's plenty to keep you occupied for a good week. Hope to return some time in the future.

Has been a while but Cervinia itself lacked any classically 'difficult skiing"; by that I mean there was no sustained slope of >30 deg. Still strap on some carving skis and you can scare yourself silly speeding down the wide open pistes. Add in ample between piste skiing and you don't really need to worry about if the connection to Zermatt is open or not.

Courcheval anyone? 1650 or 1850?
