Hello,
I just found this forum and was impressed with expert advises I see here.

I just want to know your comments on on new technique my friend showed to me.

In short we were skiing at St.Anton at central off-piste bowl. It was all fun, but exit from it was 3m wide trail with packed snow and a lot of bushes on it. So you need to do a lot of very short turns on a spot on hard packed snow. First I tried to use my mogul technique but that did not work very well since you can't slow down or turn on a bush as you can with bumps. I tried to shift weight on pole to off-load skis and kinda jump in turn. It kinda worked but it was a bit too hard and did not look good at all :(
My friend (much better skier) looked like were dancing between these bushes. So he showed me how.

In a turn I plant a pole and shift all body weight on the tip of my skis by bending knee forward and moving body ahead. My ski tails raised off the snow. As result my tips bent a lot more than I could bent full ski and created small turning radius and snow contact was very small. With that I was able to turn on a spot very easy.
Also it had very good flow. I really enjoyed the rest of this trail.

I have not seen this trick in any books or on the forums it worked very well for me. What do you think about it and what other way to ski in this situation?
Thanks.
