:-) Ski conditions in the Canadian West can only be described as AWESOME!!
Some resorts have avalanche warnings but all have great snow with BIG bases.

In the Rockies from Jasper to Lake Louise and Banff to Fernie all resorts have great snow but some avalanche dangers.

A little further west in the Purcells Kicking Horse, Panorama and Kimberley are all worth a visit with Kimberley having had over 170 inches of snow but no avalanche danger and better still no lift queues. :D

Kimberley also has the advantage of a micro climate temperatures are never as low as some of the other resorts nor does it suffer from the high winds that can plague Castle Rock and Panarama. :(

Flights are reasonable and the exchange rate is superb at about $2.26 to the £ .this makes lift passes, eating out and equipment purchases VERY VERY CHEAP for British skiers. Lift passes are around $50 - $60 a day and the BEST steak in the WORLD a AAA Alberta will cost a maximum of $20.

Everyone is really friendly, most speak the same language (except for the american bits) and business people will go out of their way to help you.

I am here for the season so if you need any info feel free to contact me. Hope to see some more Brits here soon as you just don't know what you are missing.
Happy Skiing and Boarding

Hello Boardnow,
I was thinking of Fernie for a weeks skiing, never been to Canada before, can you tell me what the skiing would be like in Mid March early April ?.
I don't really want to go all that way to find out the snow conditions at that time of the season is not terribly good.
Any local info would be great.

Sorry Fiona,
To answer your question- conditions should be great even in March/ April- there is a very deep snowpack already and things should contiunue well for the next month anyway. Even if it didn't snow much more- you'll be fine - enjoy!

Hi, I am coming over to Whistler in April and want to visit other resorts in BC between 18th and 25th April.

Do you know if the resorts usually continue there seasons through this time, and if they will be worth visiting around that time?

I am particularly thinking of Red Mountain & Kicking Horse.

many thanks
