Hi All,
On this Saturday evening I'll be driving from Geneva Airport to La Plagne. I wanted to check what is the best route & should I bother avoiding toll road (or use as less I can). I read on other forum that it may cost you Euro 50 on each side.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards

According to viamichelin the toll costs are 7.90€ each way if you get off the Autoroute in Annecy and drive to Ugine/Albertville. You can check routes etc. there too https://www.viamichelin.com/

Hi Pahadia,
Sorry I cannot help with your question, but I am assuming that as you are asking it, you will likely be hiring a car at Geneva.
If so, I just wanted to check you are aware of the new rules currently in force https://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/17092.page#153172

That's what I did. Got off in annecy and did the alberville thing. It cost me €59 on the way and €7.90 return. Just put a via annecy into the sat nav.

They do give you a sheet of info to make you aware but the guy assured me (off the record) that it's a load of nonsense. I had no problem hiring in Switzerland and driving into France. That's not to say it won't change but the guy in the counter was tidy and balanced in his views.

Thanks Chateaudoz, that's exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks "Far Queue" for pointing to that discussion. I wasn't aware of this restriction. I called rental company & they confirmed that its OK to drive to France or Germany, Italy certain cars are restricted. I am going to call again tomorrow to check.

The route via Annecy and Albertville is easy, and scenic, BUT it can be slow at particularly busy times - Geneva to Bourg Saint Maurice took us over 3 hours on one Friday-evning trip last year so the Autoroute would have saved us an hour.
On Saturday night you should be fine, but maybe check the traffic (Google maps or the French traffic website which temporarily escapes me) if timing is an issue.
