No Sign of Brexit Fears in Early 2016-17 Booking Levels

J2SkiNews posted May-2016

Companies that are reporting 2016-7 ski holiday sales so far are largely reporting business up, despite the 'possible Brexit uncertainty.'

"Sales for next winter are more advanced than ever before in our 34 year history. Over 35% of our holidays are now full…amazing!" said Nick Morgan, boss of chalet operator http://www.LeSki.com

There have been a series of ski holiday themed pieces in the media over recent weeks (see below for a selection) in which tour operators and others have, on the whole, warned that they think Brexit would mean higher prices for British skiers.

However Nick Edwards of ski holiday specialists http://www.SnowFinders.co.uk says it's exactly the type of holiday that Le Ski offers that are doing especially well because of possible Brexit fears.

"With the uncertainty over the value of the pound caused by the potential Brexit – more skiers are opting for the security of the all -inclusive ski package," said Mr Edwards.

Am pretty sure my next ski holiday has no connection to Brexit although DC seems to think word might fall apart without it.

Most people pay for their vacations through their jobs and is a such strong pound that saves a few pennies on your ski holiday really desirable if you work in manufacturing, export or any sector linked to tourism in UK; probably not.

If you want to play money markets, both Russia & Azerbaijan both have devalued currencies due to current oil price.

I worked for an Austrian ski school both pre and after EU entry. There was no difference. No visas. No movement of the earth.

The cost of travel insurance may change slightly.

Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy will all still crave our business. Competition will be the main driver, and Euro costs will continue to fall.

When I was a director of a Scottish engineering company, I won business in Austria, France, Africa. There was no change before, at or after the entry to the EU.

If the world implodes, and I can no longer ski in Austria, somewhat unlikely, then I will ski in Switzerland.

Well to be fair, I go there regularly anyway....

Errm, what was the question?
