I've just bought a pair of Fischer MX7 boots and have noticed that the plastic "tongues" (either side of the fabric tongue, and under each leg clip) can jam together and deform each other as the leg clips are tightened. You can't see this happening (but you may feel it in extreme cases?) since the clips cover the tongues. If you look at the tongues when you take them off, and notice a nick/dent in each tongue, then they have been jamming up against each other.
I used a hairdryer and carefully heated the nicks and reshaped them with my thumb/forefinger. I then cut/shaped a piece of plastic, which I now always slip between the tongues to guide them over each other whilst tightening the leg clips. The plastic should be thin & flexible (I cut up the lid off a takeaway carton!), and can be withdrawn when you are sure the two tongues have properly slid over each other. Leave the plastic "slipper" in one boot when not in use.
I may have been doing something daft to cause them to jam together, but it's not obvious to me what that was!

A lot of boots have quirks like that, but still anoying when it happens.
It's happened to me, especially when I've been lazy and not rebuckled my boots after use, or worse, rebuckled with something not straight inside. You then don't know until you put them on next time and find the plastic bent.
