Just booked a week in Lech at Xmas. Skied Austria plenty but 1st time there.
Would appreciate advice/comments on the mountain/village etc from anyone who has skied there in recent years.
Self & wife experienced intermediates and will not be too interested in the nightlife. :)

Excellent choice - we have skied in Lech pre-Christmas for the past few years and it never disappoints! The link over to Warth now makes it an even larger ski area. My personal favourite runs are the red run off the Rotschrofen chair and the fantastic long blue down to Zurs off the Rufikopf cable car. My least favourite has to be the red itinerary route from Zurs to Zug - but it has never been in particularly good condition for us so I am relieved when I finally reach the chair at the bottom of the run!
We often lunch at the Burgwald in Oberlech - great terrace when it is sunny - or over at Warth where there are some nices places. On the whole, we find it good value compared with some of the French resorts now but there are a couple of supermarkets in Lech if you are self-catering? As we come off the slopes, we either have a noisy (as in thumping but very good music) drink at the Krone Bar or a more sedate tea/coffee/cake in the Strolz café.
The buses seem to run to time and there is a post bus service which you pay for but might be worth taking over to St. Anton if you find the ski buses too crowded!

Take a few minutes to look in the church in Lech as it has some 'interesting' relics.

Hi we have skied in Lech every Christmas now for last ten years it is a lovely at Christmas. The ski link to Warth makes it a very extensive area. A day trip to st Christoph for lunch at the Hospiz is really worth it if the weather is good.
On a bad day the cross country ski route to Zug is worth it or take the bus for an evening drink and walk back.
The old Goldeburg for lunch is great but you need to book. And the Palm Alp has great pizza but does require that run into Zug which needs good snow.
The WHite ring is great but ask a guide or your host before doing the ring as s now needs to be good and at Christmas it can be very cold.
If you arrive before Christmas the week will be quiet but from the 27th it will be very busy so advise start early before ski school.
Service everywhere is very good and on the way back to Lech the Rud Alpe is a
great stop Apple Strudel in the Post Hotel is a must... enjoy your white Christmas.

Hi, Thanks for that.
Will certainly do the White Ring conditions permitting.
Had never previously heard of it before reading an article in the press last Sunday.[/url]http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/snowandski/features/11204820/Lech-Zurs-and-St-Anton-the-noisy-neighbours-of-skiing.html
