Hi all!

I'm going to Alpe d'Huez next March and I'd like to get an idea of in-resort prices - any help on the below would be great!

- beer
- supermarket items eg. milk, pasta, bread, cola
- souvenirs
- food on mountain
- food in village
- pack of cigarettes

Thank you in advance!

I've been several times, prices aren't too bad, compared to some resorts.
I'm there again in January, so I'll provide some current costs then.

Well that depends if you are comparing to other resorts or to what most civilised brits consider to be normal or being ripped off.

In France you are ALWAYS going to be fleeced, you have to just accept it and budget for it.

Beers are in the region of 6 euros a pint. Could be a euro either side of that depending on the bar itself.
Supermarkets are more expensive than the UK or valley towns but not rediculously so.
Food on the mountain and in the village i found to be comparable. A burger and chips will probably be around 10 euro take away, maybe 15 to sit down at a posh table. Resurants in the village i think you need to set aside around 30 euro a head for a nice evening meal with wine/drink.

€6 (or 7) is not expensive for a pint. If I was out in a city, I would expect to pay £4 to £5 for a pint - a similar price.

Not that bad. However, if you are a pale ale drinking country bumpkin I can see why you think anything over £2 is expensive. For a fiver you would expect a meal for you and the dog and a drink ;)

Make the most of happy hour, free chalet wine and the supermarket.
