Hi All.

After researching as much as I can I just bought my first snowboard over the net (Burton Lyric) as a beginner I would of liked to buy in store but found that they were just trying to sell me anything to get rid of all the old stock. Anyway....

The new snowboard has the "channel" and im thinking this allows me to get the EST bindings. My question is, what the hell are they? whats the difference and well, should I get them? How much should I look at paying for a pair of EST bindings? is £180 reasonable? and how do I fit them? do I need to also buy fixtures and fittings? Man this is getting expensive :)

Thank you!
Maxine. A

Hi there. You actually don't have a choice now but to get the EST bindings. They are fantastic because it allows for a much greater range of angles for which to set the bindings. They are very easy to mount to the snowboard. Two sets of screws will secure each binding to the channel. I was just as confused when I bought my burton board without knowing what the EST system is but haven't looked back since. You can get a reasonably priced set of bindings. I use the Burton mission which are pretty reasonably priced. You can also you tube the instructions to set up the EST if need be. Hope this helps ...:)

Have other manufacturers stopped making their bindings Channel compatible?

My apologies. I assume all the channel bindings are compatible. I have the burton EST and therefore refer to the channel bindings as EST. I'm sure other manufacturers have a range of reasonably priced bindings to fit ??

Burton don't make it easy do they? Having said that, you can't go wrong with them and I love my Burton kit. I would say that unless you want to go for something like Flow bindings which do give you something different, I would stick with Burton EST bindings.

I also would go for the Burton EST bindings. They will probably be cheaper if you buy them in Germany.

Ok thanks all.

EST bindings it is then, there not a massive selection of Burton though, being female and also needing ones for newbies (with a softer flex) if im saying that right?? but there are some avaialable.

Swingbeep: I bought the board from Blue Tomato so if I order soon maybe I can have them shipped together.

Jimbobalini: What are Flow bindings and why are they different?

Thanks
