A tough one for me, but i think i'd say Austria. I love the friendly atmosphere their ski resorts have, their excellent ski schools and lovely hotels. The Austrians just seem the most welcoming to guests. And of course the skiing is good to!! Austria tends to get a lot of snow, despite many of the resorts being at around 1000m or below

Interesting question! Had completely the opposite experience in Austria, and felt that the Brits were treated like muck on a shoe....but that could have just been where we were!! Having done a few places, I still love the smaller, lower resorts in France with pedestrianised villages centred round the local church...Just noce places to come back down to after a hard days skiing. Only problem there is altitude, but not had a problem yet!! Off to La Clusaz mid Jan and can`t wait! J
A bad day on the slopes is better than a good day in the office !

Nice, i have a mate who is going to La Clusaz in Feb half term. He has been there once before in easter 2005 and loved it, although there was basically no snow below about 1600m, what was there was artificial and patchy (lots of grass and rock dodging!!). I am only skiing once this year unfortunately

ps. Which resort in Austria did you go to that gave you a bad experience??

Just got back from Obergurgl and I think it may just have been that it was really early in the season, but really put us off!! Which was a shame....would still consider going elsewhere, but have just booked for Val Thorens for New Year...just a snow chaser really!!

Thats alright tho! Winter is definately best, although i do like my summer holidays to. but if it came down to just 2 weeks holiday a year, winter or summer, it would be winter any day!!

La Clusaz's not pedestrianised but otherwise fits your bill nicely - reckon you'll love it if you've not been before. It's a regular stomping ground of ours and we'll be there again in April 2007 (if not before).
