Re:Advice please - ski boot walking grips

Can anyone recommend something for putting easily over the bottom of ski boots to make it easier to walk up/down icy paths. Ideally I want something easy to put on/off and which fits into a pocket. I have looked on the internet, but would be interested in hearing from someone who actually uses such aids - even if it is only to guide me what NOT to buy!
Many thanks.

I keep my boots at the locker near the lifts as I hate walking in ski boots even on paths with no ice on them, but I saw in sport shops these things that looked like metal strings you pull over the soles of ski boots. Have no idea how effective they are though.

I often have to walk considerable distances to get to the lifts so I use Cat Tracks. http://www.seirus.com/snow-sports-detail/104/?ltag=snow-sports-ByTag/hard-goods/ They make walking much easier and safer, but they are a bit of a PITA to put on. Punching holes in the tabs and attaching a piece of string makes putting them on much easier.

Don't forget to take a couple of plastic bags or your pockets will get wet and muddy.

Lidls are offering, from Thursday 31st Oct, pairs of Shoe spikes, £5.99. In the photo, they are shown attached to a walking boot. They look to be a similar attachment to those of SwingBeeps.

Worth buying on spec at that price, or take your ski boot along and try!

I try to keep walking in ski boots to a minimum, like VSB if accomodation is away from the lifts I rent a locker 8)

Costco do 2 pairs of grips for about 12 quid. They are mostly rubber (although the grips are metal), so there is a fair chance they will fit around your boots. I use them on my snow boots when on ski trips, and they work a treat.

Hope this helps.

Steve.

I use these too and agree 100% with Swingbeep's comments.
