Is there a place to find yearly average snow fall for Italian resorts. Is the reason you can't find them the reputation that the Dolomites don't get abundant snow fall. Also where is the best place for "guaranteed" snow in the Dolomites

Hi Joe, we're in the process of collating some average snow fall data and hope to publish it on J2Ski shortly.

I think it's fair to say that The Dolomites, historically, tend to get less snow than The Alps although they have had some excellent seasons in recent years. Not sure there's anywhere with "guaranteed" snow, but some of our regulars are more familiar with the area than I so hopefully they'll be along shortly.

This is the one big thing which has so far prevented me going to the Dolomites as otherwise it looks stunning. Snowfall is known to be erratic and I'd hate to book a week and find conditions weren't good, but that's the risk of going to lots of places I guess.
They do have lots of snow making so as long as its cold you'll be fine.
The better snow in Italy is over the western side, monte rosa.

I don't know about the other Italian ski resorts, but I have looked at the historical snow reports for Folgarida/Madonna di Campiglio because that's where I'm going with a few other people from here in February 2014 :)

I looked at snow in February for the 8 years from 2006 and there was at least 50cm on the lower slopes and 100 on the higher slopes in all of those years apart from 2007 when there was only 30cm and 70cm. And most years there was around 50/150 cm. In 2009 there was 200/225!

I looked on the Ski Club of GB website, but according to Admin you will soon be able to get some information on average snowfall on here :)
