J2Ski Forum Update - September 2013

You have a new toy to play with!

If you're awake this morning, you might just notice that the forum looks a little different...

This a prototype of our new design, that we'll be rolling out across the site over the next few weeks.

Why have we done this?

The web is a very different place to what it was just a couple of years ago; smartphones and tablets have changed the world - and we already get over one third of our traffic from mobile devices.

At the same time, wide and high resolution screens are increasingly the norm on the desktop.

So we needed to improve things for screens both large and small.

So what does that all mean?

Through the magic of Responsive Design, J2Ski now tries to make best use of whatever screen size and shape you've got - so it will (automagically) look different on your iPad, your widescreen TV or your mobile; so you can take us with you wherever you go!

Why Now?

The vast majority of web browsers have now got their act together (it's only taken 10 years) and various other useful technologies have matured. Using this foundation, we can start to do some very cool stuff... 8) 8) 8) ...you will like what we have in the pipeline...

We'll be monitoring it closely to see how it pans out, and there'll be a Feedback thread over in the Comments and Requests section shortly - please use that for detailed feedback and bug reports so we can find it all in one place.

And a final caveat - some of this is "experimental" and some of you probably have devices we don't even know exist... so there will be the odd strangeness around... please let us know (with screenshots if at all possible) and we'll try to make it all good...

Finally, finally, although it looks different; everything you know and love (ahem) is still here. The login forms have been refined, your PM boxes refreshed and the Your Profile area streamlined to make it clearer.

I am currently viewing in glorious 27 inch mac fanboy vision. Looking good.

Now that's done admin, can you speed up my broadband for me please.....Barely 2 meg here :(

I really like it too...I will have a look on my phone later...much clearer and user friendly...mmmmm Marmots do they come from Markovo and are you giving away Marmot toys
