Hi All .....
Lech is on the short list for my "holiday where I ski" - week with MrsOA, who doesn't ski but, thankfully, loves the mountains.
Choices for this holiday get quite convoluted - hence it is our holiday and I get to ski some of the time, rather than a full on ski holiday.

Couple of questions......
How easy is it to get around the town of Lech and any info on the ski buses to Zurs and Oberlech?
Anyone know if these are included in the lift pass?

Looks like there are some cable cars up the hills - but does anyone know if the restaurants at the top are easy to get to on foot from the top of the cable cars??

TVM
If I don't get these holidays right my skiing is curtailed - nightmare!

As non-skiiers my parents ended up in Lech for my mums 50th (years ago now, she's 70 this year - OMG now I feel old), they had a merry old time doing sleigh rides, walking and the like, it was very early season (week before Christmas), not sure they went up the mountain but I know they had a great time without skiing, if that helps.

In addition to previous response there are plenty of possibilities for going up the mountain via cable car and walk - the main one being Oberlech where there are numerous restaurants and hotels (many with sun terraces) that can be walked to. There are also plenty of walking trails. The blue bus system is free (you don't need a ski pass) and links Lech, Zurs and Zug - it also links to St Anton but only goes as far as Alp Rauz from which you have to go up chair lift then ski down.

Lech does sound a good option for us and thanks for the responses so far.
Just go to keep my fingers crossed that MrsOA gives the green light. I will then book instantly so she can't change her mind.

That's an interesting area, YoungAndy. There are so many avid skiers who struggle to get their ski time in, because their partner does not ski.
Then there is the situation when a couple have skied together for many years, but for many reasons, one of the couple can no longer ski ~ does the partner have to give up skiing?
It is an obvious market segment for a hotelier to offer a programme for non-ski partners. Not just Wellness centres, which may have a certain, but limited appeal.
Perhaps to offer local history & culture, local language, local music, local art groups.

I am a big fan of Lech as I also holiday with on skier sit is perfect lots of walk s that have easy links for skiers and walkers. Ally chair lifts will take a walker up to ice bar great for dri SK .
This year a new bubble opens to earth who h will also take walkers .
Recommend the walk or cross country route as great coffee and apple strudel stops .

Lots of places to stay that are not expensive i recommend haus odo cost effective good food great location But no lounge area near best hotels for evening drinks

Lech is great especially now that a new link is opening to Warth-Schrocker a mile away. It's on my shortlist this winter because of this new link. For non-skiers, though, my recommendation would have to be Wengen.
