Heads up for anyone using Turin airport this season. It's still the same carnage unfortunately.
Uk flights tend to all arrive within about an hour of each other on a Sunday morning, it looks like a Thomson private airport!
What you'll find is an arrivals hall full of people all trying to find which belts their bags will come out on, and then where skis will be. Bags come out along with 2 to 3 other flights so its really difficult to get near the baggage belt and can be a bit of a scrum.
However this is nothing compared to the dreadful process of recovering your ski bags.
There are 2 outsize baggage sections, basically a hole in the wall, at both ends of the baggage hall. There should be a display telling you which hole your flights skis will come out on, but don't take this as read, as skis will appear at either, and that's split between the same flight as well!
Of our 8 ski bags, 5 came through one, 2 through the other, and 1 set was picked up by someone from a different flight who wasn't bright enough to see they weren't his and just saw the colour of the bag and presumed.
Luckily, we were aware enough to work out that as there was an identical ski bag lying about, this probably belonged to the person who took ours, and as it was a Thomas cook label on them we deduced it was probably a Neilson client, so we grabbed their airport rep and asked them to track down a mr X as his name was on the flight tag, and 15 minutes later we had a Neilson rep with our ski bag which was just about to depart for Sestriere.
I believe mr X was not the most popular person on the sestriere transfer bus!!!
Going back from Turin, check in is clearly organised around sections a to d which are satellite desks, with ski bags going through 1 desk clearly stated, but from hereon in its queue, queue, queue,
Security is slow, there's a ridiculous system in the cafe shops to queue up to pay for a coffee and then take your receipt to queue up again to get it, then queue up to use the tiny toilets, and queue again for passport control, before queuing again to get through your gate, where you'll queue to get on a bus, and then queue up the steps of the aircraft, before queuing again to get into your seat as usual while people somehow manage to get in the wrong seats or produce massive suitcases which should never manage to get on as hand luggage!!!!!
Just a heads up

A lot of Italian airports use the old pay for a receipt then queue again for your purchase, but I must say I have in the past found Turin airport OK.

Hi we had no problem at Turin airport going out in actual fact we sailed through, mind you we did go out on the first flight on a wednesday morning, however coming back was sunday evening 8pm flight to stansted which was full of italians coming back into the uk and there was no space for our hand luggage and no seats together, not that i mind about the seats but my hand luggage was carted off somewhere unknown to me with all my wordly goods in it money, ipad, jewellery, didnt see it till we got off the plane and i wasn't happy about that, had visions of someone taking it which could happen i guess, ryan air for you!! I have had my luggage lost by ryan air on route to dublin and i found it in lost property on my return which had been to france not dublin !! I guess you get what you pay for !

The only time I've had a half-decent Turin Airport experience was when catching the 6am Thos Cook flight from Bristol; first one to land and return - so queues and scrums had yet to build up. But got to know the scenic car park very well as the transfer bus waited for everyone from several flights to battle their way through. My tip: avoid Turin on a Sunday.
