Can anyone tell me of any resorts that bash their black runs on a daily basis?
I ask because most of my skiing is done on reds and blues and rarely blacks. The reason for this being that most blacks i see are moguled to hell.
Now i don't mind moguls, i have fun on them on less steep reds and to the sides of pistes. But if you combine them with a steep and narrow black i tend to shy away.
I would like to play on some real steeps without the need to take it steady due to bumps. Sometimes i think the bashing guys just get lazy and leave all the blacks alone just because they can claim it makes them harder.
Resorts with steep pisted blacks.

Parts of the Three Valleys Snapzzz.
Also Les deux Alpes - the runs back down to resort at lower level so needs reasonable cover for these.

I'm not a keen mogul skier but the blacks I've skied have always been pisted.
Mayrhofen doesn't have many but those they have are pisted, including thefts our hari Kari which your really should try
Also the blacks in adh were pisted and simple enough to tackle.
You ought maybe to consider skiing Austrian reds rather than French ones as these will invariably be steeper and more difficult from my experience. St Anton in particular has some fantastic steeper piste skiing in places, and you'd probably love the itinerary routes they hav around the place.

Snapzzz, you need to get yourself to Espace Killy before too long. I'm sure you would love it. Le Face as an early morning run is really good fun.
I was going to ski the Sache black run down into Tignes Les Brevieres but I could see that the top part was mogulled and I didn't fancy committing to 2.5km of that!!

Snapzzz ..Ischgl has some amazing blacks that are groomed. If i recall correctly run 20 is the steepest black in Europe that the bashers can work on although it was not groomed every night. There is also another run which i think was black 35 which was straight at the top and had a hump so you stood at the top and watched someone ski over it and waited a few seconds until they reappeared in the distance down below. Only people i saw really go for it were in full race gear with back protectors so i assume they were a team using it for speed training. Unfortunately my ego was not up to it so had to put in a few turns until half way down.. i am sure i have a video somewhere so will post it if i can find it.

If I may......the hari Kari is actually the steepest black in Austria, and I was led to believe in Europe as well.
I fancy a go at ischgl though definitely.
The greppon black in verbier is one you can go for at full tilt.
I'm guessing snapzz is looking to go for steeper piste skiing........you'll probably find a slope is graded black, not just because of its gradient, but because its uneven, narrow, or prone to icing up in patches, etc.
if you want speed, stick to reds and hit them harder than you normally would. Cut out some of your turns

that's reassuring as I have only skied in Austria and been led to believe that french reds are steeper than austrian which makes me a bit nervous, and I am off to france this year... oh wait... in 8 days :)
