We went there for New Year, about 3 years ago. There wasn;ta great deal of snow down to the village, so downloadded by gondola from the mid-station. It is a long way to Les Arcs however, as Champagny links into La Plagne skiing above Plagne Centre. It is actually quicker to go to Courchevel for the day by car (included on the lift pass) than ski across to Les Arcs. It is a lovely village though, and I would think it would also have much more of a summer season than a higher village. You might also consider Montalbert.

Would agree. Stayed Montchavin last January (loved the palce going back jan 7th) but Champagny if memory serves me right is a long haul from les Arcs. The skiing in Les Arcs is amazing. The Vanoise Express which links Les Arcs and La Plagne is terrifying!!! but wow does it open up both areas.
