Any top tips about what to take and what not to take?

Apart from "not very much because your apartment will be the same size as an, albeit large, shoe box"

Cheers

Depending on what time you expect to arrive - a small amount of enough to tide you over!

Nothing worse than getting into the apartment and not being able to have a drink - T, coffee, Ribena or Glenlivet - whatever floats your boat.
:D

Similarly - you don't want to have to go to the supermarket before anything else so something of some sort to eat.

The only real essentials I would take are salt and pepper (who wants to buy a huge pot of each???) and a loo roll!! Maybe there will be these in place but maybe not.

Of course - if self driving then take the kitchen sink.

Anything you think you will particularly want, but are unlikely to find in France. Classic example above. English mustard, Salad Cream, that sort of thing. Not sure if you can get Ready-Brek yet.

Actually, on a totally serious note, if you are flying, you cannot take any liquids. I guess that rules out sauces and milk for the first cuppa.

I think you can but you will have to check in the bag. I think milk is the same everywhere so no need to occupy a valuable luggage space with it.

We usually go to France by train, and I take small amounts of cleaning stuff - like squeezy, Cif, and a few cloths.
I also bring a T-towel, hand soap, one toilet roll. And foodwise we bring small amounts of herbs and spices and oils and vinegar. It's very annoying to have to buy a huge bottle of olive oil and then leave it behind!

And I also bring powdered milk, muesli, and tea bags - in case the train is late and the shops are shut when we get there!
