We are off to Champoluc for a sneaky weekend this weekend (15, 16 December). Staying at Le Rocher. Anybody know it and/or have any tips for the area?

Im off for a week on 20 jan.
I've asked on here for similar responses, not many people seem to have been.
The old Rifugio has burned down sadly.

Conditions look amazing.

Any photos you can get and post on here, along with a short review, would be most welcome.

Have a great time

Fantastic area, especially for a short break.

Le Rocher not far from the main gondala station, if my memory serves me right, and you can store kit there too.

If the weather is good then head straight over to the Gressoney side as you need to ski that too and the long black over to Alangna, its not difficult ut you hav eto set off early to do it and head straight there.

Wind closes lifts quickly so hence if conditions good get over there and back else you could be stuck there and its a 2 hour taxi ride or booking a bed for the night.

Apres ski is best in Pacha mama, they put out loads of food, as do most of the bars, but definately the liveliest place, but planty of quieter retreats too.

I had to come home. Bonkers brilliant! Things can only get worse between now and when you arrive because this morning was the best skiing I have ever had. Yesterday was tremendous but this morning was even better. I have never seen better snow, the views were amazing and the pistes were like billiard tables of felt. The reds are just autobahn blast frenzies. The lift infrastructure is well organized and in the main very fast and modern. Some of the gondolas a bit old but they do the job and I didn't see a drag lift. My ticket for this morning cost 23eu, valid 08:45 to 1:00pm. Incredible value.
The villages are simply glorious, the food and coffee is superb and amazing value. Full report to follow in another thread.

No crowds either. Sunday had a few people but never had to wait for anything anywhere. Locals are great. Crazy quiet, worlds best kept ski secret
