Hi, just touching on an earlier post, me and my partner have booked to be in St johann on Dec 8th this year (with the season opening on 7th).. I am becoming ever more worried about the lack of the white stuff at present. Can someone advise is there access to higher resorts on the same ski pass that are easy to get to from st johann via public transport? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

A very worried JB

This is the link to the last 4 years snow history for St. Johann.http://www.igluski.com/austria/st-johann-in-tirol-snow-history_2654

Looks like December 2009 was a bit dodgy but the upper depths don't look that bad. Fieberbrunn looks like it may be your best bet- highest skiing in the Schneewinkel (2020m and 47km of pistes). Waidring goes up to 1900m with 35 km.

According to the timetable Fieberbrunn is a10-15 minute bus ride from St. Johann. Don't get too stressed; loads of time yet -)

You can get the train from St. Johann to Kitzbuhel. Very short journey and I think the fare may be covered by the ski pass. I would check that you ski pass covers Kitzbuhel as well though.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

I know St Johann very well. December 8th is very early for skiing there and there is only likely to be very limited skiing if any available. Kitzbuhel is likely to have some skiing and yes there is a free train service from St Johann if you are in full ski gear. St Johann ticket is NOT valid in Kitzbuhel.
