Hi, I'm looking for some general info on the suitability of Cervinia for a family of four, all adult, one confident skier, two ok intermediates, and one just-out-of-beginner phase who really needs their confidence boosting by some good tuition and some decent blue runs to build up their skills on. We've been to Niederau and Soll, and were wondering whether Cervinia would be a good choice for us in January. Any thoughts and feedback is much appreciated.

Cervinia is probably the most confidence boosting resort I've been to. Long, long, wide motorway runs - the reds would be blue in many other resorts. OK intermediates will love it, perfect for the just-out-of-beginner skier, a confident skier might find it all a bit samey - although runs like the Ventina taken at high speed are a hoot!

Totally agree with LOTA.
Plus there are fantastic Zermatt runs just over the hill for the more adventurous:)

I as in Cervinia last new year and I had an amazing time, really nice long runs and the visit to Zermatt was just beautiful.

We stay at a Crystal all inclusive, Petit Palais which was by the gondola and worked out really good value, convenient and the food was spot on.

Just had a look at it's about £550 for a week in January.

I think I managed to drink over £500 of free beer while we were there.

Only down side to Cervinia is the Ski pass price but you get a lot of skiing for your money, I would just upgrade you local pass on the days you want to go over to Zermatt unless you plan on going over more than twice.

We managed to take the first gondola up the mountain and skied to the furthest point you could in Zermatt and back in the day, was very hard work and we never stopped all day but well worth it.

Just don't get stuck on the swiss side it's a very expensive taxi ride back, I was told it was in the region of 500 euro's

Thanks to Matt, Biki and Lota; you've helped make our decision a lot easier. Sounds just like what we're looking for.

Two ways up from the village from what I remember, the gondola on the far right of the village up lots of steps to the station great warm up with your boots on! The other is a couple of chairs up. Sure there are accommodations next to both but if you are in the centre of the village you could be in no mans land. If you look at a piste map you can understand what I mean. Going there in April so a holiday report would be great

I only know what I've read and heard from friends who've been. But I'd say it would be effect for your requirements.
Easy cruising on good snow in the sun is the general consensus.
