We would also like a picturesque resort with good English speaking ski instructors. Our first ski experience was a week trip to Lech, Austria last year and we had a wonderful time. We are trying to decide if we should go back to Lech or go somewhere new this year. Is there a place that matches the charm of the resort and the ski experience?
Thanks for your help!
Not really.
If you liked Lech, you'll hate Val Thorens or Tignes.
Personally, if you liked it that much, I'd go back and play it safe.

I found both to be quite pleasant little places for France.
