We rented an apartment through Owners Direct and it was very reasonable. www.ownersdirect.co.uk/val-thorens.htm
They had a local rep who gave us the keys and arranged a cleaning service, it was all very easy. There is underground parking available (if you drive).
We stayed in an apartment block right in the middle which was convenient for shops etc and had great views but was a little noisy.

I can see my house from here...

Hi Niiixsy,
When we stayed in Val Thorens I found a cheap apartment for 2 of us through the VT Tourist Board website. It was with the estate agent Val Thorens Immobilier and it was in the residence La Roche Blanche.
I had a look for you just now, and an 18m squared studio for 2 in the Roche Blanche 2 star for 12th January (I don't know when you're going) is only 310 euros.
The Roche Blance is very well situated by the piste, and only a short walk from the shops etc. The apartment we had was absolutely fine but the ski lockers in the basement were absolutely dire and the agency told us to keep our skis and boots in the apartment so they wouldn't get nicked.
I think it may well be one of the cheapest places to stay in VT because we had several ski instructors on the same floor as us!
If you don't mind staying somewhere more expensive, there are loads of other places.
