Going to Tignes 7th April, could do with advice on clothing, do I pack what I would normally take in Jan/Feb, are taking jumpers or fleeces a waste of time and weight. Do you normally ski still with a ski jacket or would a soft shell be more appropriate?
Before icy or Tony mention things like socks and underwear etc, that's a given and will be taking lots of sunscreen!

We take the fleeces but also a lightweight jacket, and my normal skiing jacket.
I also carry a back pack because the weather can change, usually start off wrapped up, then peel off as the day goes on. It can start off cold then warm up, then cool down again. Have a good time.

A variety !!
And watch the forecasts.
In Tignes last Easter (end of April last year) and the weather threw everything at us.

The lowest I noticed on the thermometer at the Panoramique (top of funicular/bottom of glacier) was -13C.

On another day when pleasant at 3000m sitting outside the restaurant it was viciously cold at the top (3500m) and all I wanted to do was get down lower.

But - really hot and sweaty back down at resort level (2100m).

We had snow up on the glacier (rain in resort) and gave up early one day coz of the wind/snow/visibility/cold !!

Rucksack is your friend here to carry a fleece etc.

But - when really cold up high, just drop down a bit - if cold up top the slush will stay away longer lower down.

Enjoy the skiing

The most important thing is to have good vents on both jacket and pants. This week in Utah, I used an outer shell with a softshell underneath. Both have vents which allow a good air flow through to the base layer.

BTW even with three applications of sun screen a day, my face got a little burned.
because I'm so inclined .....

Layer up as usual, but be prepared to strip off during the day. You probably can afford to lose the thermal/base layer but you'll be surprised how cold it can be first thing or when the sun goes later on.

Vents in pants and jackets are very useful.

I've always skied in a jacket even when its been warm.

My advice would be take what you normally would, but slightly less of it in terms of number of fleeces and go out with a layer less.
