1 month contract dongle £21 whilst away or pay in hotel
(they charge !) Which is the better idea and yes I know I should be able to live without the dreaded internet. :D

Well, my area of expertise.

Obviously all this depends on hotel charges, any idea?

But, the hotel will be the better option. However your £21 dongle is that a UK dongle? If so you will get hit for huge roaming bill. There are key questions here

- how much do hotel charge?
- how much are you likely to be online
- is the dongle UK?
- can you use your phone instead and buy boosters?

Can answer more accurate then

If you are only looking to get a one month dongle, why not look into getting one from a telecoms supplier in the country you are going to. You will not get hit with the roaming charges then.

However, subject to the Hotel charges, that would probably be your best option.

Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to find free wifi zones in Kitzbuhel earlier this season, you should check where you are going to see if any are available. Some bars use it to draw customers.

Dongle from country of origin, or the local bar with free wi-fi. Might cost more in beer in the long run, but that's not wasted money!

All US hotels, condos, and chalets have free wifi. Very few exceptions.

Thanks for advice, I popped into Vodaphone and he said buy one in resort/ country. I could just "man up " and live without it for the week, I only use it for emails, FB etc I am sure I will survive. :)

If you have a smartphone, most UK operators now do a deal on roaming data for travelling. Smartphone should be OK for just email and FB.
