Came back from arabba at the weekendand it was fantastic!
1200Km of pistes and although not the same levels of snow as other places in Europe conditions where very good.
Travelled with inghams and bought their intermediate pack; equipment, lift pass and 3 days 3 hours lessons.
Found out that the times of lessons where 11 to 1.did not fancy losing 3 days exploring the vast area by having to stay close to home for the lesson so asked ski school if we could change group lessons to a few hours private which they agreed!
3 1 hour lesions with the same instructor, Monday Wednesday and Friday 845 to 945. The great thing was instructor gave us specific exercises to practise between lessons but also we had all day to ski. He also have us great tips of areas to ski and to travel to places where we would normally not think we could get back from in time
technique has vastly improved and over the moon with the steps up we achieved.
The dolomites are a stunning place to go and would recommend it to any intermediate / advanced skier but maybe not beginner especially arabba as the home runs are all tough ones

Sounds like you had a really good instructor.

It is a beautiful area. Just north of Arrabba, still on the Sella Ronda, is Corvara which has loads of wide blue runs which I imagine would be a good area for beginners.

What were the holiday prices like with Inghams? and how much was their 'intermediate pack; equipment, lift pass and 3 days 3 hours lessons.' Where did you stay?

a ent at half term so prices were ridiculous like usual.stayed at the hotel portavescovo. The ski pack was £291 but sure the lift pass by itself wasover £200 so made sense to do it.
Hotel was great, 80% of guests where Swedish when we were there which makes a nice change from full of british guests.
Not saying I don't like fellow brits but was different!
Hotel has attached to out one of the two pubs in the resort however most hotels have there own bar where they more than welcoming

Hey John987,

We were also in the Portovescovo at half term! Loved Arabba, although the hotel less so. Hate Inghams who, having taken every penny well in advance, tried to ruin our holiday with various late changes, culminating in the 2.45am departure.

Brief notes on Arabba and Sella Ronda in general: Amazing scenery, fantastic and good value food e.g EU 2 for a glass or really decent "house" red wine at lunchtime. From Arabba, there is a good range of skiing - some tough stuff from the glacier, access to the Sella Ronda circuit, or easy cruising towards Corvara. The food was also very good. We took the trip to the hidden valley which is the most spectacular pisted decent I've ever done. Although its a must do, I found doing the SR circuit (clockwise) a bit of a chore and it was quite busy in places. Did I mention the food?

Snow was a bit iffy, they use snow cannons well, but there was nothing off piste which showed the lack of natural snowfall (this year at least).

Overall we loved it and would go back again. But not with Inghams.

Please follow this link for my youtube effort!

We've just got back from an excellent trip to Champoluc, including some fresh powder in April! Will post a vid when I get round to it. Just got to hibernate 'till next winter now :-(
