In searching for our trip and looking at a couple of resorts known to us (St Johann and Westendorf) the searchs also came up with Alpbach and Filzmoos, both in different ski areas - just wondered about your views if you have skied them? )
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

We are off to Filzmoos for half term. It is a very pretty, compact village with lots of Austrian Gemütlichkeit. The skiing is perfect for families but if you want more challenging skiing, you may want to take advantage of the huge Ski Amade area that Filzmoos is part of. Very good hotels and accessible skiing. Hope this helps.

Ah thanks for that, the guesthouse has good reviews on Trip Advisor, and have done some more research about the resort and the area, definitely top of the list at the mo! Just need to sit down with OH and laptop and credit card, it was not a resort I was familiar with or knew anyone else who had been, so this is useful. I like the Gemütlichkeit aspect of Austria!

Hi. We went on an 'allocation on arrival' holiday a few years ago. We were allocated Alpbach. Never heard of it. It was absolutely wonderful. The downside is that you'll be hooked. Not the largest of ski areas, but it seems to change daily. Lots of people go there year on year. It's cheap - hotels you can book directly yourself for circa 40-50 euros per person per night. Wonderful atmosphere, stunning scenery. Not too good gfor beginners, but great for intermediates. And there is LOADS of off piste for experts. You won't be disappointed. We';re off on Friday for the 4th year in a row now!

After much debating, searching and calculating, Alpbach it is - and skis hired via a shop in the village! Get in!! :D :D :D

Well done! Conny's in town is great and you can also team up with the shop at Inneralpach too, if you need to during the day if any problems.

The 'pub' above Conny's is the best for dinner out/drinks/apres ski (in the village).
You'll love it.
