Hi, Could anybody offer any advice. Thinking about going for a week. I am a confident red run skier but my wife has only two weeks skiing. Will she be OK as the piste map seems to suggest lots of reds and few blues? Thinking of maybe booking her into Ski School there. Any reports? Recommendations for schools etc? or any other general advice would be appreciated. :-)

Axamer Lizum was my first ever ski holiday. We had lessons every day. The problem for me was the nursery slopes were at the bottom of the main slopes so very busy. I found the slopes quite challenging as a complete newcomer, but great for a more competent skier. Where abouts would you be looking to stay? If you stay slopeside on the mountain there is very little to do. If you stay in Axams its a long ski bus trip to the mountain and nothing except the hotel bar and a small night club in village. The ski school was very good but me as a nearly 50yr old in a class of youngsters I was a bit out of my depth. Also the board/boot hire was very dated. Any-thing else you need to know give us a shout.

Thanks for that.Looking at Gotzens as the location. Its what I imagined but but based on the deal on offer we thought we would give it a try but wasnt sure if the runs would be too difficult for my wife who has skied Seefeld and Niederau as a beginner. :)

I suspect you are looking at the Crystal all inclusive deal which is really a good deal. This is the one we did. Stayed in Gotzens at the hotel Edelweiss. Hotel okay nice rooms and clean. Food not spectacular but okay. Rep did a bunk the night we arrived so sort of fumbled our way to getting hire stuff and lessons sorted. The main problem for us was about 200 french students staying at the same hotel. The hotel is unmanned after midnight. The noise from 200 drunk french students was hideous, but with the help of earplugs managed some sleep. There is nothing to do in Gotzens except a few walks. Seefeld is a far better place to go in my opinion with the slopes being far better suited to a beginer than Axamer. Crystal actually gave us a 200 pound voucher each for inconvenience which went to-wards our next holiday at Seefeld.
